Our Latest Collaboration: The US574 and You

It used to be that the closest you could get to designing your own pair of New Balance 574's involved a crayon or magic marker — until now.

Today, we're proud to introduce our new Custom US574, putting one of our best-known and best-loved silhouettes in your hands to style any way you want. You pick the colorways and fabrics, and the skilled team at our factory in Norridgewock, Maine creates and ships the finished shoes to you, all in 4-8 business days. Our commitment to crafting each US574 in Norridgewock reflects our broader commitment to domestic manufacturing, under which we produce 25% of the New Balance shoes we sell in North America in the US.

Take a closer look at the process by which our team in Norridgewock crafts each pair of Custom US574, from per-order cutting of optional premium leather uppers and back tab through embroidery of up to 8 characters, all the way to assembly and shipping:

New Balance calls a shoe "Made in the USA" only if the domestic content is at 70% or more.

The Custom US574 is priced at $114.95 plus shipping, is available in men’s sizes 6.5-12, 13, 14, 15 in widths D and 2E, and can be made with your choice of:

  • 8 premium suede options

  • 8 mesh options

  • 9 lace options

  • 10 logo and backtab options

  • 2 midsole/outsole options

  • Up to 8 embroidered characters

Create your own excellent design now at www.shopnewbalance.com/us574. For a peek behind the scenes at our March 30 launch event in NY, see Hypebeast's coverage. And check the NB Flickr account for more photos of the process behind making each US574 at our Norridgewock factory.

Do you ship these to Canada?

April 8th 2011 at 4:30 PM EST

Hi,

Just finished designing 3 pairs of 574s when I found out that you do not ship to Denmark!

Will this be possible at some point? If yes, when?

I would like the sneakers shown in the video with brown and tan and pink but other than pink i don't see the colours on you custom site. How can i access the brown tones?

I need size Width 4-E. Why doesn't New Balance offer the Custom 574 with Width 4-E ?

April 20th 2011 at 2:52 AM EST

I'll echo arv's comment, except I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I need 15-B. I've worn the 1063, 1064, and now the 1080 for running, so I know the size I need, and would love the style of the 574 for when I'm not running. Pass the extra cost along if you must, they are custom anyway, those of us struggling to find shoes that fit will pay more for the privilege. Thanks!

can u guys offer 4w and above for customers with wide feet

April 24th 2011 at 7:21 PM EST

I have designed some 16 pairs. The hardest part is deciding which ones to order. I strongly agree that a 4E or a more generous 2E is needed. My current 574's gradually broke in and gave me more width, but if there was a 4E....I might buy all 16 of my designs.

Can I recommend that when you chose some colours, actually include some retro highlight / contrast colours? It's difficult to do an interesting design when you don't have any yellow, orange, lime green etc. I mean, I like blue shoes and all, but there are only so many three tone blue shoes you can do before you start wishing for some accent colours.

Can I make the same for the New Balance M577?
Please please please....

May 13th 2011 at 1:31 AM EST

I'm on the 4E bandwagon along with a fairly high toebox.

good

Great idea!
Here's another: since you're custom making these already, and most people have slightly different sized feet, why not offer the option for a different size for each shoe?

I'm all over this!!!! More colors please.

July 19th 2011 at 6:52 PM EST

July 19th 2011 at 6:54 PM EST

Are these available in women's sizes?

Great idea to offer customizable shoes, but I concur with others who have a beef about the choice of colors. I wish there more to choose from, and I'm sure there are quite a few people out there like me who'd order more if they could get more of a variety.
Also, good thing these are Made In USA, because that's my #1 reason for coming back to you. As long as you keep having a line of good-looking (576, 996, 1300, etc) basic runners that are American-Made, you'll have me as a customer who spreads the word.

This is awesome!! But disappointed with no purples or a burgundy! Please add at LEAST ONE shade of purple pleeease! Definitely a lime green, gold, teal, cream/off white, and a shade of orange would really create a personalized shoe that would rival the other custom name brand shoes.

I just wondering why 574 been selected as the promoted style, not 320?
As I knew, 320 is also the proud of New Balance styles.
Could I know the reason why 574 been chosen for your promoted style this time?
Thank you^^I

My comment isn't about this article but I just want to say that I'm a loyal New Balance customer, however, I do not like the new skinnier "N" logo. It may seem stupid, but I went to get a new pair of shoes last weekend and just because of the feminine looking logo, in my opinion, I bought a pair of Asics. Asics are great shoes, but I do prefer NB as they're usually lighter weight and less snug.

Hella cool. Not to be repetitive or anything but why no 4E? New Balance has made an empire of selling widths... would love to have a pair of those but Ds don't fit.

October 19th 2011 at 1:14 PM EST

Another vote for a 4E in this shoe!! I'll buy 5 pair if they had 4E. 4E Please.

I'm delighted that New Balance shoes are made in the USA. You should play that up. I need 5E because of foot problem. Would pay extra for wider shoe.

December 8th 2011 at 11:25 PM EST

4Es please!!!!!

December 9th 2011 at 12:21 PM EST

I looked at my new New Balance shoes and they are made in China. So if you want to buy shoes made in the USA, check the label inside the show. I'm disappointed in New Balance, because they make a Big Deal out of their American production plants.

New Balance supports the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), since they have an online community on here that lets people post user generated content, New Balance's own website would be open to litigation and liability due to this legislation. New Balance executives, please read up on the arguments against this legislation and reconsider your stance on this legislation.

Wikipedia article with arguments against.

Ironically, [the legislation] would do little to stop actual pirate websites, which could simply reappear hours later under a different name, if their numeric web addresses aren't public even sooner. Anyone who knows or has that web address would still be able to reach the offending website.

I bought a pair of walking shoes in september from belk,s dept store. they were made in pink for breast awareness. i never had a more uncomfortable shoe in my life. they hurt my heels and my feet get very tired in them. i had stepped on something with my bare feet and had to go to a foot doctor to get it out. i showed him my new sneaks. he was very disappointed by the quality of them. could you help me out with this problem. i don,t have my receipt. i must have thrown it out.
