When you toss a plastic bottle in the blue bin, the recycling process doesn't stop there. What happens to it after? To help answer that question, New Balance and DASANI® have partnered to raise awareness for the importance and benefits of recycling by empowering us all to make environmentally preferred choices in our pursuit of active, healthy lifestyles.
DASANI PlantBottle® packaging is an update to the DASANI signature water bottle that keeps consumers hydrated. When the bottle is tossed into the recycling stream it, along with other recycled PET bottles, could kick start the process for the creation of newSKY — a shoe with an upper made out of recycled PET plastic bottles. newSKY shoes are made with a variety of recycled PET plastic bottles. An individual pair of shoes may or may not contain DASANI bottles.
New Balance and DASANI are changing the way we think about recycling, and together are working to use more recycled content. By recycling, you can help us in this endeavor.
With a minimal, thoughtfully-designed upper made from recycled PET plastic bottles, newSKY symbolizes a new approach to both material and shoe design as part of a greater effort by New Balance to adopt more sustainable practices.
The first recyclable PET plastic beverage bottle made partially from plant-based material, PlantBottle® packaging looks, functions and recycles just like traditional PET plastic, but does so using less non-renewable materials.
